de Montmirail… 1st
stage :
Beaumes de Venise Beaumes
of Venice is located at the foot of the plate of Courens, and owes its name
with the many caves (or balsams) dug in the hill. The village niche with the
foot of famous Laces of Montmirail which are used to him as natural rampart
against the gusts of the Mistral. In front of the course Jean Jaurès, the
large parish church of 16th century, transformed at the 19th century, is
coupled with a porch which carries out to the street of the Republic. You will
notice in the passing the beautiful fountain with will “mascarons” (18th
century) in the place of May 8 in front of the church. After
having surveyed some streets flowered and pretty alleys, you will pass by
small staircases, then will discover old houses, some beautiful restored doors
and will assemble thus until the ruins of the feudal castle (17t century)
which are on the climax of the village. Of the other side of the village, on
the road of Vacqueyras the vault of Our Lady of Aubune is, whose bell-tower of
Romanesque art, dates from 11th century and the priory classified historic
building. Take the time of you to stop there and follow the path which is
located behind the vault on the hill, trotts it is superb. You will be able to
also visit the prehistoric caves or balsams of Ambrosi and of Rocalinaud. For
the fine papillae, go on the Raspail’ avenue, to discover there the vault of
tasting and sale of the famous wine of Muscatel of Beaumes of Venice. But
attention the celebrity of the muscatel should not make forget excel it Côte
of the red Rhone village of Beaumes of Venice! NB

stage :
Gigondas Let us continue with the discovery of Gigondas, halt impossible to
circumvent for the amateurs of this vintage known in the whole world. The vine
covers 1 here 200 ha and more than five million bottles are marketed each
year. In the bottom of the hill, Gigondas takes form below its church which
dominates all the vineyard of Gigondas and offers since its square a superb
panoramic sight. Laces of Montmirail take shape in background of the commune
and offer many excursions to be made. On right-hand side of the village, on a
small hillock the vault Saint-Côme and Saint-Damien offers a pretty point of
view. You
will go up in Gigondas, by beautiful lanes and alleys bordered of stone-built
houses to arrive finally at the parochial church Ste Catherine with her
beautiful frontage of the 14th century.
At side, you will be able to visit the Old people's homes, via a path in
punctuated staircase of 21 monumental sculptures create by contemporary
artists. 3rd
stage :
Vacqueyras Vacqueyras:
one of the three great vintages of the Coasts of the Rhone in Vaucluse, with a
label of origin controlled since 1990. The village always has some remainders
of ramparts, in the medium of its narrow lanes. Make a halt with the church St
Barthelemy (of Romance source), for his elegant bell-tower of Provence. Small
anecdote: one of the emblematic figures of the village is the famous
troubadour Raimbaut de Vacqueyras who went celebrates amongst other things, by
his declaration of love in Béatrice. To finish this escapade direct towards
Sarrians, and to develop your sense of smell with the botanical space of Coste
Coa. Plus 10ha of paths will make you discover the flora of Provence. Return
to Vaison the Roman. NB
